Can you tell us about yourselves and your work briefly?
I graduated from Yildiz Technical University Civil Engineering department in 2004 and then I made a master's degree in transportation planning in Istanbul Technical University. I would like to have my masters in particular know that I did not do it just to make a master's degree or to postpone my military, because I'm just a field of interest and love.
I started working in a project office the last semester of my undergraduate education. After the graduate education began, I had the opportunity to work in Istanbul transportation A.Ş., one of the most ideal places to work on transportation planning. Then I worked at Arup, which covers the biggest part of my life so far, which I have gained many different experiences, which I am interested in, in different directions. In March of 2016, I joined the Türkerler family for the Mahall Bomonti Izmir Project I was working on.
What factors have you had in your choice of civil engineering?
I was prepared for the university exams in the last year of the ÖSS-Ös examination system, as you know, we were completing our preferences before our scores came back. Frankly I do not know how conscious preferences I have made and my term friends, then I guess there was a perception that Digitech would become an engineer as well, very successful in electrical-electronics, medium-time construction, machinery and electrical engineering in general Like. and textile engineering was popular. I never had a clear job in my head until senior year. I took a look after the test, and I just have a list of architectural and civil engineering choices, and I can even say mainly architectural preferences.
What profession would you prefer if you could go back to the past?
The buildings have always intrigued me, but with more designs, and frankly, while taking the test, there was the architectural department of Mimar Sinan University in Haylimde and my preferences were always architectural and civil engineering, but the two were very separate from each other I didn't realize there were disciplines. When I met the first days of college, I remembered that I had a really serious disappointment when you said, "You don't work with the design, your business is a calculator," and I even thought about taking the test again. But when we started engineering training, I found our profession and engineering really interesting and I loved it. I think if I were to choose with my current mind, I'd just write civil engineering, but I'd put the Mimar Sinan Architecture department together;)
Which lesson was the most difficult when you were a student?
The lessons I don't keep and the notes of others I work with. When an engineering student is interested in his lessons, and when he's working hard enough, I don't think it's a difficult subject or a lesson.
What challenges have you faced until you're in your position?
Engineering is to solve the problem, to evaluate the possibilities in the best way, to manage resources well, to use the common mind, to eliminate problems and to find better than existing solutions. I've never considered any situation I've encountered in my life as a challenge, I've always preferred to see it as a problem or a stumbling block, and fortunately, I've managed to overcome it all by now.
What do you think about the future of the construction industry?
Construction will continue as long as human beings exist. But when I evaluate topics such as increasing population, changing society structure and individual needs, individualisation, opening of new business branches, mechanization, evolving material technologies, space exploration, travel to Mars, what I do in the near future Frankly, I wonder.
What measures do you take on the construction of occupational safety?
We apply everything required by applicable laws and regulations, the necessary physical measures and controls in the field, the training of employees ' standard answer, but I want to say something else over an incident that happened to me. We went to visit a project that was about to be completed, a young worker in the façade platform of the building was working at 24-25 years old, and on what helmet, rope, what vest… There was no protective material. He replied to me, "You'll be fine, brother." I can give countless examples of workers, engineers and site chiefs like this. No matter how much we measure, the first and most important thing that needs to be done about workers ' safety is the awareness of everyone who stepped into the construction site, waiting for everyone to be at home in the evening of their friends and their side His family is his mother, his father, his wife, his children. If you look at the statisticians, many of the accidents in construction are very easily avoided or accidents that result from carelessness and ejaculation. The only thing without compensation is life. May God bless us all with such accidents.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of working on the construction site according to you?
Working at the site is more enjoyable than sitting in the office, resulting in a structure that will arise as a result of your work. I think it's really exciting to build a step-by-step structure. However, working at the construction site is a little more altruistic, and you are the most family of your relatives, because you may not be able to work within certain working hours on the construction sites, you may not have weekends, outside the city, at the mountain or in the wilderness You can work in places. You can imagine that there are many sites around me that are close to their family. But I can tell you, it's almost impossible to sit in a closed office after swallowing the dust on the construction site. The construction site is like your child after a while, the most important thing you need to know to work at the site is knowing that you will have to devote most of the time to your loved ones.
What are your recommendations to civil engineering students?
It's a lot of free time for a student, or students think so, time is something that can't be undone, so don't waste your time. Take care of our Turkish and make sure to use it without errors. Although we say that we are good as a country for construction, it is not exactly the case, but all the products are almost used except for cement and rebar; Concrete additives, façade joineries, mold systems, the machines we run, unfortunately, always foreign. By working hard, we can overcome this situation by doing research and development, and for that, the candidates who are currently active in the sector as well as the universities, including the students, who will enter the sector in a conscious manner instead of the task Bring. So be concerned and work hard. Learn English very well that you have access to source artifacts. Follow the agenda and the world, be social. Try to make the most of the task given to you when you enter your work life, don't hesitate to ask, don't be afraid to make mistakes, be brave. Always be sincere and honest with your surroundings. And a final recommendation, read the classics.
